People often say "Home is where the heart is," but for us, it's also where the Alu-Cabin is. Our Alu-Cabin isn't just something we've added to our Tundra; it's been our haven, a spot where we feel safe and cozy, and a place where our family has made and will continue making unforgettable memories.
It's been our escape hatch from the daily grind, letting us pack our bags and disappear into the wild for weeks, leaving the world far behind!
We hope you enjoy our Gear Review of our Alu-Cabin, our home away from home.

THOUGHTS:
We got to know Alu-Cabs, Alu-Cabin thanks to our pals at Red Bear Outdoors. They hooked us up with some folks from OK4WD when they swung by the Toronto Sportsman Show a few years ago.

We'd heard about the Alu-Cab product but hadn't seen one up close, so it was super helpful to actually get our hands on the Alu-Cabin and check it out. The model we looked at was on a Chevy Colorado, which gave us a great idea of how it would fit on the back of Roam, our Toyota Tundra.
The basic camper comes with cool LED lights for each window and door, under the mattress, and on the ceiling. These are touch capacitive and can switch between white and red. You'll also find USB ports and a couple of reading lights snugly placed next to the mattress. You'll need a fitment kit to make sure the camper fits your truck bed and it will replace the trucks tailgate. This camper model also has an integrated wedge-style tent that you can set up or pack away in less than a minute, which has been super convenient and fun for us.
You’ve got tons of ways to customize your Alu-Cabin with product offerings made by Alu-Cab or through other companies and partners, you can choose a variety of upgrades and enhancements, making sure things match exactly what you’re looking for.
While some decide to finish their Alu-Cabin's interiors with cabinets and flooring, we have decided to leave the bed of our truck unfinished since we currently use the bed of the Tundra for home renovation projects. All our camping gear fits neatly into totes that stack and pack easily into the truck bed, which we secure in place with bungee cords and/or Strachit straps by Front Runner.
The install options we went with were:
Shower Cube, Load Bars, 270 Shadow Awning, Mozzie/Midge Nets, Rear Exterior Molle Panels, Alu-Table and Table Slide, Water Tank, plus a few others.
We aimed to stick to a budget, but we also wanted to make sure we'd be comfortable traveling for a few weeks at a time with the Alu-Cabin. We left room to see how things go and still have the chance to tweak it to fit our needs, not just our wants... I still want that can crusher, Chelsi!
Having the camper on the truck hasn't really messed with our daily routine. I just skip underground parking lots and some fast food drive-thrus now.

We've really enjoyed how comfy and safe our camper makes us feel. There have been moments, for example when we were exploring through Labrador, where we found ourselves in some pretty tight places, without much space to set up camp. Being able to just pop up the tent and get inside in no time, left us feeling cozy and secure and helped us get a fantastic night's sleep.
If you know me, you know I care about functionality, but I also love making a statement and grabbing attention. The amazing quality of the Alu-Cabin totally does that for me. Everywhere we go, people are curious and come up to us with questions.
SUMMARY
Overall, the Alu-Cabin came with a cost, but the value has been paying itself back in convenience, comfort, security, quality and pizzaz. The ability to customize things as we go, setup and tear down in minutes, and just feel good about it has really kept us impressed and excited about going out on trips with it. We know it will last the years and adventures we'll encounter.
Work with a trusted source when looking to buy any of the various Alu-Cab products. While they are all well built, they are also built to work with a variety of needs and a trusted vendor, like Red Bear Outdoors, will no doubt help you make the right decision for today's and more importantly, tomorrow's adventures. A purchase like this should not be approached lightly and the care they showed me and my family to ensure a proper purchase will not be forgotten and has been what has made all of our trips thus far, huge successes.
PLACES WE'VE BEEN SO FAR WITH OUR ALU-CAB:
Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Labrador and Newfoundland.
