As more folks dive into the great outdoors, the tales they spin often sound like a comedy of errors rather than the epic adventures they imagined. I reckon these few simple questions you should ask can be your secret weapon before you go camping, ensuring your first trip into the wild doesn't turn into your last stand!

WHAT AM I SLEEPING IN AND WHERE AM I SLEEPING?
When you're camping, it's super important to figure out your sleeping setup and pack the right gear. If you're using a ground tent, make sure to have a tarp or footprint underneath it that fits well. This gives you a bit of insulation and keeps you off the ground. Don't forget cozy blankets and pillows! If you're up in a rooftop tent, try to stay as level as you can and face the tent's narrow end into the wind. A comfy memory foam mattress or a good air mattress will make sure you sleep great.
DO I HAVE A BACKUP PLAN?

Always keep a backup plan handy and be ready to jump to it at a moment's notice. It's also smart to have a plan C, D, and E up your sleeve for those times when life just wants to see what you're made of.
Hope for the best, but be ready if things go south.
DO I KNOW HOW TO USE WHAT I PACKED?
Just because you know how to buy it doesn't mean you know how to use it.
Make sure to get your gear ready and test out your tools, gadgets, and toys at home where it's safe, before you head out to camp and really need them.
Identify the defects to avoid being stranded or, even worse, injured due to a miscalculation or assumption.
HOW WILL I BE USING MY TECH WHILE I CAMP?
Figuring out which devices you're taking with you will help you plan how to use them, so you can set some time limits. This way, you can stay present and make the most of what you've got. Don't forget to pack the right charging cables and gear to keep everything powered up for as long as you need.
DO I HAVE THE RIGHT FIREWOOD?
Be aware that many areas prohibit bringing your own firewood due to concerns about spreading non-native spores or pests. Ensure you are familiar with your destination and verify that what you plan to bring is permissible and safe.

WHAT AM I GOING TO COOK?
Now this is my favorite park of camping. We get away to chill out and take our time to cook a wonderful meal. This doesn't mean anything fancy mind you, simple burgers, hotdogs, or stepping up into some pizza's or even, yes, a steak. Knowing your meals ahead of time and bringing along condiments, or spices will go a long way to ensure your camping experience is memorable for the right reasons.

We hope these tips and suggestions help you get the most out of your next trip out and if you have further suggestions of your own, please add a comment down below to share with the community!
